Sucker Punch

As I’m wont to do while walking to work, I started thinking about movies, the last of which I saw was “Sucker Punch”, which I enjoyed. Make no mistake, I thought it was pretty bad, but I did manage to walk out the theater not feeling like I’d wasted $6. The visuals were creative and entertaining, and the acting was on par with Zack Snyder’s other films, but the movie was definitely lacking in emotional depth and impact. I couldn’t place my finger on why I felt this way, since the story appeared to have the necessary structural elements to create a story that we cared about. Somehow, something was missing, and I couldn’t figure it out until this morning.

After much fussing and annoyance, along with a missed opportunity and a monster screening I couldn’t watch, I finally saw King Kong last night. I’m sure you’re all saying, “Tell us! Tell us! What did you think?!?” (unless, of course, you already saw it, or you just don’t care), so I won’t keep you in suspense.

It was almost better than LOTR, and it only had two endings!

I snuck into a screening of The Chronicles of Narnia last night at my theatre, and I have to say, it was pretty goddamn good. (I know, inappropriate choice of words) Weirdest thing about it: It got to the point where you ALMOST forgot that all those talking animals weren’t really talking. It was so cool, I didn’t really mind when they hit you over the head with a crucifix – i mean stick – with the Christian symbolism. Oh yeah, and Tilda Swinton is one scary bitch.
