Idle Platform Thoughts

In School on March 31, 2011 at 10:24 pm

I’m fascinated by the fact that no one in my class on Thursdays lives uptown. I make the long walk to the 145th St station alone every week, while my classmates all head to the 1 so they can trudge their way back to Brooklyn or Queens. This seems odd to me. The main reason I picked this school is because of its proximity to my home, yet my peers seem to not have taken that into consideration. I did happen to see one person I know tonight… On the platform heading downtown.

I suppose I should relish this moment, because it invariably means that after a year of 20 minute commutes home, I’ll wind up student teaching in Coney Island.
